At long last, a new release by Steve Linnegar’s Snakeshed is available!

Their 1982 release “Classic Epics” was hailed as a milestone in South African rock history and has received accolades galore (including a SARIE nomination!). It has been re-released twice, including the CD/LP re-master and re-release by Guersson Records a few years ago.

“Hard Drive” is a compilation of 21 hard-to-find previous releases and unreleased classics from the 80’s and 90’s, and includes the album that was slated for release, “Oyster Cruise”, as well as the last known song recorded by the band, the haunting “Drive”. From the driving rock of “Monkeys” and “Klashee” to the folky “Wahida”; through the melodic, radio friendly, “It’s just love” to epic, trippy classics such as “Egyptian Siesta”, the depth and musicality of Snakeshed will enchant you!

This release celebrates the lives and music of Steve Linnegar and Martin Kopelowitz, who wrote and performed on all of the tracks together with various local and international musicians over the years. Both Steve and Martin were taken from us way too early but their legacy is remembered here in the music and original paintings.

The tracks were dug out from various archives, then re-mastered during December 2017 and finally packaged together with previously unseen photo and paintings.

An old fashioned double CD will be available to purchase in early 2018 but, in the meantime, we offer a digital release which also includes the CD booklet in pdf format.
